Book Review: CALL TO ARMS

call to arms cover

Call to Arms, by Shiriluna Nott and SaJa H., is a thoroughly delightful book brimming with details that make the setting and characters come alive. It grabbed me from the start and I couldn’t put it down. I could almost taste the described foods and feel Gib’s embarrassment as he struggled to grasp the formalities and rules of his new home. Throughout the story, he learns things about himself that he never dreamed of. This is a beautiful coming of age and self-discovery story with themes of acceptance, bigotry, social stratification, gender equality, and sexual identity. The hatred and distain shown to those who are different is all too real.
